Our Story

MUTCCAN was founded in 2015 by Wassim Amer, who sparked the idea of building a collaborative technology community. It began with phone calls and a WhatsApp group, and the vision quickly gained traction. Although it started informally, it soon evolved into the not-for-profit organization known today.

Our Values

MUTCCAN is rooted in values of selflessness and community support. A group of Muslim individuals, inspired by these principles, collaborated with Wassim from the early days and contributed to shaping the organization. These values aligned naturally with broader Canadian values of inclusivity, collaboration, and community-building.

Our Impact

MUTCCAN has positively impacted more than a thousand individuals through multiple initiatives, including mentorship programs, one‑on‑one advisory sessions, public speaking events on resume building, connecting recruiters with members, and job fairs. These combined efforts helped people secure employment and elevate their education and career paths.

Adapting Through Challenges

During the COVID‑19 pandemic, the inability to meet in person affected collaboration. Virtual events, such as an online job fair, had limited success, and volunteer engagement declined as people focused on personal and family responsibilities. Despite the slowdown, the relationships remained strong.

A Big Thank You

Generations of volunteers have contributed to building and evolving the organization’s structure over time. A heartfelt thank you and our prayers go to more than 100 volunteers who helped shape MUTCCAN into what it is today.

We also extend a sincere appreciation to the spouses and family members who supported and enabled these volunteers. Their patience, encouragement, and understanding made it possible for volunteers to dedicate their time and effort to serve the community and advance MUTCCAN’s mission.

May Allah reward you with goodness!
